Hey Pedro

"What do you think of the Tom Jones Show series in Vancouver, Canada in 1981?" I missed that one completely. I'm sure it was great. Do you go back far enough to remember his original TV show "This is Tom Jones" back in 1967? That's when I became a lifelong fan. At the end, he'd do about 15-20 minutes of singing in front of a crazed audience. You got the full measure of his talent then. Plus, he was my idol because he had all the girls going nuts for him- he was the "coolest" guy in the world in my opinion.

It's funny. A lot of people only think of him as the guy who gets underwear thrown at him as he sings " What's New Pussycat'. It's so far off the mark. To me, he was the guy who always blew me away with the power of his voice, the feeling he put into his ballads, and the incredible shows he put on.

Say Fred...

It seems Tom and I have something in common ...women threw underware at him and my ex wife threw a suitcase full of underware at me!

This new(or should I say latest)Tom Jones cd Mr.Jones is crap.I hate to say this but that`s how I feel about it
After the great Reload cd I was excpecting something diffrent than cd full of a mediocre songs.
Man`s voice is as good as it can be but those song... The version of I Who Have Nothing is quite terrible.
Luckily it was only 3€.
Hopefully the next Tom Jones album/cd is more enjoyable.

Janne

I like that CD very much, I think it has some great songs. Then again, it has to do with one's personal taste.

Hi Fred

I just wish he'd do more ballads. Even if he's lost a little of his voice he's still got more than most!

Shane-

I agree 100%. His shows are incredibly upbeat, with one rocker after another, and while I enjoy them, to me, there's nothing like him belting one out, filling the arena with his voice. And you're right, even though the voice isn't as smooth as it was twenty or 30 years ago, I'd still rather hear him than anyone else. I still always have the same feeling when I leave one of his shows- that I don't think I could have spent the last 90 minutes any better.

TJ touring

This guy still does 200+ shows per year. Does he need the money? Nah, he's been making $10,000,000+ annually for decades. I guess it has something to do with loving what he does. It comes out in every show. Gotta check his schedule for Atlantic City!!!!

Might take a while

From what I know, his next embrace of shows in AC is at the Resorts International, from November 7 to 9.

Hey Pedro

I sort of "lifted" it from the TV special that ran a few months ago. I never saw TJ enjoy a show more. He was totally at home with his people, and it showed. Didn't hear what the attendance was, but it looked like 70-80 thousand people. Great show, especially "Boy From Nowhere". Seeing him in America so much, you tend to forget that he's from Wales and his heart still belongs there.

Hey Fred

From what he said at the interview (it's in the VHS/DVD), the attendance was 10,000 each night; He did three nights, so it was 30,000 people! What a guy!

I really like the song "Never Tear Us Apart". It strikes me.

Old Tom Jones Better

I am a big fan of the old Tom Jones...his new stuff of the last few years is horrible...he should take a lesson from Engelbert. Stick to what your good at...if it's not broken, don't try to fix it.

Gerard- He refuses to be irrelevant

He's managed to stay popular by changing with the times. I agree, I also loved his earlier stuff more, (circa 1964-70), but he always morphed into whatever was popular at the time, from country to disco to rock. He has tremendous versatility, if not musical integrity. He's way more popular than Engelbert, who has his stable group of fans following him for decades. TJ keeps adding new fans every year, most of them in their teens and twenties.

I'm sorry but I disagree, His standards, country were great but the last few 10 years I don't think so. Engelbert on the other hand still knows what works for him and what his fans like. My Aunt loves Tom Jones and had most of all his records (60s & 70s). She walked out of one of his shows a few years back, she had said his new material was horrible, let's face it... he had his time and in his time he was great and still is if he sticks to the style and material that made him famous. "The Lead and How to Swing It" is a far cry from his early material...." She's A Lady"... "What's New Pussycat"..." I Can't Stop Loving You" and the list goes on.

Here's my take;

I like the fact he does new material to keep it fresh, but agree his last 2 CDs were crap. I bought both, and the one with Wyclef is terrible, simply crap.

I wish that he could just find some new writers to record with because I think his style and music are strong.
