Keith, I keep checking the ticket sites to London venues, "one more time" Tony. Was my total highlight of last year seeing him at the Palladium, unlike you I'd not been lucky enough to see him live before, but listened to his music for 20 years now. I've heard similar rumours of a summer appearance, will jump on those tickets if so. And happy to share.

Nick, you GET it. He is probably the only artist I can find who gets better with age, Ive got (and love) the big recent box of his complete works, and it is a slow progression from the ok to the utterly brilliant.

I've been a TB fan since I can remember! He signed one of my hard cover Sinatra books back in 1989 in Dallas at an exhibit for his paintings at the Galleria I think is where it was! I met him again at the D.I in Las Vegas in the early 1990s. I agree you have the Sinatras and then there is TB!

Got Number 75 (and 235 but thats a long story!)

As for this summers UK tour, Keith and I have been in conference today, I've secured tickets 4 rows from the front to see Tony in Liverpool on Weds June 27th, then again at the Albert Hall on the Sunday, Keiths going for the Saturday date there, so we got it all covered!

Wonder if he'll ever do a concert in the Philippines. I don't care how much it would cost me. I just want to hear him live.

25th June Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
27th June Liverpool Empire
30th & 1st July RAH

As it will be from there on the ipad, it won't be a sober review but will do my best! Think Maureens from near Birmingham so wonder if we have a member going from there to.

For those who have the Complete Collection:

Have you noticed that the "Perfectly Frank" album has the Reprise studio style "Stereo" label on the case?

I guess it's one of the subtle packaging tributes contained in what is already a tribute to FAS. The CD case of this album did not have that mark when it was first released in the 90s.

Just great to see Tony so active. He certainly can't be doing all of this performing for the money! Obviously, he loves his audiences as much as they love him! When Frank performed in concert, there was so much genuine love present you could have bottled the stuff, and made a fortune!

I do hope he considers going north after Australia. But it's a long shot. The concerts we've been having in Manila feature acts which are already way past their prime, or those hoping to revive their careers, or cash in on nostalgia. Even worse are acts which feature one or two original famous band members, and they label themselves as that popular band. It's tantamount to, for example, Ringo Starr and his present band calling themselves the Beatles.

I do wish Tony would try using a bigger band on his tours these days.

As much as I love the quartet in a small setting - when you see him in larger arenas like the Symphony Hall in Birmingham or the Royal Albert Hall I fear the small group just doesn't seem to work so well.

Imagine if he brought the Basie Band again, as he did a few years back. That would be a great concert!

That would be nice but it's a very expensive proposition.

I suppose so. I have seen other artists recently tour with large bands, Steve and Eydie are one example, along with Cleo Laine, Andy Williams and Jack Jones.

The most impressive was Barbra - who (naturally) had a 60 piece orchestra with her. To be fair, tickets for her shows I think started at about £80 for a seat right at the back of an arena. But the Andy Williams and Jack Jones tours both had comparative ticket prices to Tony Bennett.

I happen to enjoy the sound of the quartet with Mr Bennett, but i do fear it sounds rather lost in some of the more cavernous arenas. I also think it is a shame that some of his wonderful charts for bigger bands do not get an airing!
