Tony Martin

Tony Martin opened last night at Feinstein's at the Regency with his wife Cyd Charisse sitting at ringside.

After being introduced by Michael Feinstein the 95 year old singer began a program of his hits: "To Each His Own", "La Vie En Rose", "There's No Tomorrow (O Sole Mio) and "Begin The Beguine".

He sang "I Surrender Dear" and "I Don't Know Why" in tribute to his 2 friends Bing Crosby and Russ Columbo. He sang "Let's Face The Music And Dance" in tribute to Fred Astaire.

Martin then sang a "new" song and brought the audience to its feet with his rendition of "How Do Keep The Music Playing?" which he dedicated to his wife.

Martin concludes his engagement at Feinstein's tonight. He is truly a LEGEND.

Good for him. 95 years old. WOW. I think he and Cyd have been married almost 60 years.

If he can still sing that well, and at that age, more power to him!

April in Paris

I recently purchased Tony Martin's Greatest Hits cd on Rca. On this cd there is an abrupt fade out at the end of "April in Portugal". Was the single like this or is this an error? Also does anyone have the Collector's Choice compilation to compare it to?

Bump. Does nobody have a copy of this recording? If someone does and its on a different cd, can you please tell me if it has a seemingly abrupt fade out ending?

Heard his duet with Fran Warren, "Put on my Prayers & Said my Pajamas" the other night.

Can't find a recent picture, though.

Funny. I restarted this thread as well as starting the Margaret Whiting thread in which I was asking who was her duet partner in I Said My Pajamas (And Put on My Prayers) and this thread has now mentioned that song.
