Nancy For Frank
Tue 3/25 2:00 pm ET

This week, Nancy puts the spotlight on Latin rhythms from Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald and, of course, Nancy’s dad. Nancy has lots of radio recordings to share and a feature on one of Frank’s last Capitol albums.

Rebroadcast: Thurs., Mar. 27th @ 9 pm ET.
(Earlier incorrect description of a repeat broadcast was replaced.)

It must have been a mistake, Nancy. It was on the website this morning, but it's now been removed. However, the incorrect date also appears in this week's Sirius Music Weekly newsletter.

When the real Show #42 description is posted (usually on Fridays), I'll place it above in post #2 as usual.

Wow! Really enjoy hearing the songs from Easter Parade... it's one of my favorite Judy Garland movies. And Frank singing the song Easter Parade was a nice surprise!

And Happy Easter to everyone listening to Nancy For Frank!

While I am use to hearing Nice 'N' Easy first, it was a great idea to restore the original album concept and have The Nearness Of You lead off the album. It's such a beautiful song, just like the whole album.

Didn't notice a thing. (I'm always amazed at what a great job you both do of avoiding mistakes.)

This show just keeps getting better and better! I read about the different takes and endings of Nice 'N' Easy in Chuck's book but it's fantastic to finally hear some of them!

I'm really enjoying today's show, more than usual for some reason. Nice variety, and some of the "other" singers are contributing some topnotch cuts.

"Lonely Town"

I mentioned last week that "Lonely Town" was my favorite FS recording. The next best thing is Gerry Mulligan's baritone sax backed by Tommy Flanagan's piano trio, from the 1962 album Jeru. Great jazz.

Well Bob, that cut was for you! "Jeru" is a terrific album - I really love the opener, "Capricious."
