Mark Pasquale

Nancy,

I'm really glad you remembered Mark.
I miss him also.

The show will go on and grow as you move along with it. The other record companies will have to let go and see the educational value of this great music. There will never be a greater teacher of the "Great American Song Book" than Frank Sinatra

Love Ya and keep going,

Bob
I’ve just read everything that’s been posted on the topic of “ Nancy For Frank” and while I am still an XM subscriber, I just signed on for a Sirius trial so I can listen to the show tomorrow…I hope there will be a show even though it’s a holiday week..
(Thanks for that sound byte of Nancy’s endtro)
This thread is chock full of info, opinions and a tad bit of esoteric audiophile insights that I’d like to opine on
As a few have mentioned, Sirius’s 32kB trial stream is nonsense—they may as well offer a phone number to call and listen
Many people are under the impression that satellite services like Sirius and XM offer state of the art audio and yet the inverse is often the case especially when one factors in the vagaries of transmission, reception limiting and compression not to mention the individual components one employs in their home, car or computer.
As for capturing the magic of Nancy’s show (for personal use of course) I know I’ll record every second and since “Audio Quality” is dear to me, my technique is to hot wire the Line Out of my sound card (Sound Blaster 5.1 Digital) to the line-in of a Panasonic Hi-FI Stereo VCR and record Nancy’s show for later editing and transferring to CD. I will not listen to the compressed, narrow dynamic range of Mp3s, so yes, while I do embrace digital technology I still have Audio Standards to maintain.
The VCR is also a must for unattended, timed recordings
Thanks for all your terrific work…Oh, one quick off the topic question….Do you know who plays guitar on “All The Way Home”….great picking/arrangement and of course crooning by FAS

Hi Ted,

I assume you've also seen the thread, Sound Quality of SIRIUS. BTW, easier (and higher quality) than connecting cables to your VCR is to just use your soundcard to record to a wave file on your computer. Your Sound Blaster should have a small Sound Recorder program from Creative Labs which is ideal for this purpose.

I believe it is Tony Mottola, but there were two other guitarists present at that 1983 session (Vincent Bell and Jack Cavari). I love that song.

Hi Bob--good to hear from you
I use Nero waveform editor for on line recording, and the VCR when I'm upstate on weekends. Usually from an analogue tuner source, sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the guitar info--that track is a wonder to behold

What Criteria Used For Judgement of N4F

By Lady Nancy; on what is a good or favourite show IHHO.

This has been quite confusing during the 26 shows, all of which have their own merits, and their own music.

So truly, why do you say Lady Nancy, that a given show was not one of your favourites?

BTW, this in no way is meant to imply critisism - it is just hopefuly going to garner an answer as to why you like what you like.

Personally, I have found gold in every show that I've heard, and wonder how a program of this length can be put together each week.

Hi Uwe, my sweetheart.

This is what I don't understand! If Sirius is transmitted by satellite, why is it not be heard everywhere?

dear Nancy :)

I didn't have a creditcard to sign in and do not have a satelite radio.
I do not know if my internet connection is big enough to get it in a stream.

Earlier I went to Fry's Electronics and in the stereo department I noticed that they were playing Sirius Radio... so I moved the channel to Siriusly Sinatra and heard some of the replay of Nancy For Frank. I went back to the department later and was happy to learn that no one changed the channel.

Itts hard to believe

that this thread started a year ago, and since then 36 different shows have been produced and broadcasted.

The really great thing is that last week we heard a candidate for Best Show Ever.

I'll bet Nancy didn't realize what she was getting herself into a year ago.

Nancy for Frank repeats?

Heard a little of my first 'Nancy for Frank' show tonight (#73). The reason only a little is because I work nights and had to run out to the car to catch some of it. But what I heard I really liked and exactly what I was hoping for.....some info on each song. Which leads to my question...are the shows repeated at sometime? Not only the most current but also past shows...are they repeated at all?

Hi John

There is a specific thread for each of my shows. Check in the Sirius room. You will find lots of information available there.

Thanks Nancy....I guess tonight was a repeat of show #72. What I managed to hear was great. The Linda Ronstadt song 'If I Should Fall Behind' kinda reminded me a little of another song called 'When The Roses Bloom Again' although that song is about a soldier leaving for war.

Also...a thank you for the veterans segment.

I've been wondering about this, too. A search didn't seem to turn up any further discussion on the topic. I also didn't see anything regarding podcasts of Nancy's show on the Sirius or XM websites or iTunes.

I'm one of those car-less -- as opposed to careless -- New Yorkers who likes to listen to podcasts on my daily subway commute. Any chance of these shows being made available at some point?
