Okay, folks: it's been an exciting week for me here on the east coast. First, the quake (my first - which I experienced with some good friends on the 17th floor of the Sony building in NYC). Now, Hurricane Irene. Never a dull moment - I can assure you!
Since I'm not quite sure exactly what to expect tomorrow (I have a feeling that the power may be out in my area of New Jersey), I thought it best to post this week's song list extra-early. Had we know of the impending storm when we put this show together, we would have certainly included Frank's Columbia recording of "Goodnight, Irene." Maybe next time... If you're anywhere on the eastern seaboard, my thoughts are with you. Stay safe; that means STAY INSIDE, stay away from windows, and listen to the emergency personnel who are urging you to evacuate if necessary. If you're elsewhere, have fun and enjoy the show!

Bless you both, Lourdie and Nancy. We were VERY lucky, in that the hurricane lost steam before hitting NY and NJ. We had a ton of rain and some wind (trees down, flooded streets), but it wasn't NEARLY as catastrophic for us "inlanders" as it was for those right on the coastline. We lost some small pockets of power in our town, but not much at all...

A Journey to a Star - Most welcome! I've always enjoyed Alice Faye's smoky contralto, heard to such good effect in brilliant 20th Century Fox musicals such as The Gang's All Here (my favorite - early psychedelia) and Alexander's Ragtime Band.

Swing Easy
The beginning of a beautiful friendship and the maiden voyage of a musical partnership the likes of which were not seen before or since. Fantastic! |

Hope everyone is safe. It definitely was an eventful week, an earthquake and a hurricane. Mother Nature seems very angry these days. So far all my family and friends that have checked in are safe and relieved its over.

The Long And Winding Road (Barry Manilow)
I love this song but I prefer The Beatles.
