NFF 188 -- As Good As It Can Possibly Get!!

I've made the four versions of "Everything Happens To Me" a centerpiece of so many of my "Introduction To Frank Sinatra" seminars/courses/presentations! All you need do is listen carefully a couple of times to each of the renditions, and, almost by osmosis, you will grasp the full meaning of Frank's artistry & genius -- the presence, the passion, the honesty, the beauty, the intelligence, the power...if you visit the Met and go from Rembrandt to Rembrandt, you experience similar feelings; ditto when listening to a full symphony orchestra playing Mozart & Beethoven!

Alan King, at the Hofstra Conference, said it best: "Frank was an event!" A happy 96th to one of the most unique talents in recorded history--and someone who'll always be part of me!

Great big "Thank-You's" to Nancy, Chuck, and Friends!

Absolutely wonderful show! What a fitting birthday tribute for Frank. Thanks Nancy, Chuck & Dan.

Nancy, your closing statements on each show (but particularly this one), tear at my heartstrings, and leaves (even a hard boiled character like me), emotionally drained. By mentioning not only our dead & wounded war heroes, but the price being paid by their families, too, couldn't be more on the mark. Thank you for being the kind, caring person that you are. Like your Pop, you never fail to touch my heart.

Thank you for playing these fantastic selections from the Bing Crosby show. This is great stuff. I love hearing Frank with Peggy Lee.

Maybe you should come in through the front door.

So THAT'S what Stardust is! :P

Thank you, Nancy! I always make sure to come in through there because of the prize thing and I'm able to see the graphic. I figured that the song itself was acapella, but I guess that post meant something else.

Either way, thank you again

Chris, a cappella is an Italian phrase that refers to singing unaccompanied by instruments. I wasn't sure from your post if you understood. If you already knew that, please forgive my assumption that you needed an explanation.

I do know the definition, Dina, but it's alright, no apologies needed! (I did not know that it was an Italian phrase though, so thank you for that information!)

I was confused because the song played on the front page has instruments with it, so I didn't know if the same version was played on Nancy's show. I've looked for a capella Frank songs before, but to no avail, and upon searching this forum, I didn't find any answers to it. The only thing I did find on Google was in Come Fly Away!, the opening number is apparently an a capella version of Stardust, which is what I thought was played on Nancy's show. I could be wrong though.

I hope all of that makes sense :P

There are also the songs he did when just beginning his solo career in 1943 that only had the backing of a vocal chorus because of a musician's strike. His voice stands out wonderfully with only the harmonizing singers behind him.

These songs from the Bing Crosby show are fantastic. Thanks for great editing, Chuck! I really appreciate you and Nancy giving everyone the chance to hear this amazing recordings that otherwise we wouldn't be able to hear.

New to Sirius

I've just gotten a free trial on my iPod. Found the Sinatra channel, but can I listen to past shows? Also when and what time do new shows with Nancy come on?
Thanks!

Hi Kay you will enjoy it!

If you go onto the Siriusly Sinatra page and click on 'shows' it will tell you what days and times previous shows are rebroadcast.

Nancy for Frank is broadcast on Sundays for 3 hours from 5pm Eastern Time (I think that will be 4pm for you?) so hopefully today should be no different - I will be tuning in! (10pm UK time)

Just make sure you have channel 71 playing at the right time
