Perhaps the best of all the "Playing Favorites" shows?

Just wanted to say, "Great show, Marilyn & Alan Bergman!" and here's wishing you continued good health & happiness. Please keep writing songs! Thanks as well, to Leigh Ann's much-appreciated bio info (above) some of us learned for the first time about what you're up to these days: that you are "working on several projects with Michel Legrand, Charles Fox and Roger Kellaway" (outstanding musicians and arrangers in their own right).

This isn't the place for an extended appreciation of the "best husband & wife songwriting team EVER" . . . but I've just shared my thoughts about the "greatness of the Bergmans" and their life-long connection with Frank Sinatra, over at the largest website for musicians -- in a "songwriting" thread. If the moderators will permit, here's a link:

Did I say "great show"? Well it was. Maybe the best ever!

The Bergmans Revisited

It was wonderful to hear the first time around, and 'just as wonderful' the second time around! We don't hear "Love Looks So Well On You" and "Sleep Warm" that often. What terriific songs!

Frank's version of "...Rest Of Your Life?" is thrilling, stunning, and a bunch of other adjectives in-between. This was a special 'Playing Favorites," and worthy of many more re-plays!

Playing Favorites with Jack Jones
Mon 8/16 6:00 pm ET

Rebroadcast: Thurs 8/19 9:00 am ET; Sat 8/21 3:00 pm ET

One of the most celebrated singers of the '60s and '70s, Jack Jones continues to record and perform today. His smooth style is a favorite of Siriusly Sinatra listeners and we’re so happy to have him stop in to play songs that he loves. Along with a great selection of songs by Frank, Jack will dip into the Ella, Keely and Dean catalogs as well as play some of his own great renditions.

1. You Make Me Feel So Young
2. Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry
3. One for My Baby - Jack Jones
4. Nice 'n' Easy
5. I Wish You Love - Keely Smith
6. Return to Me - Dean Martin
7. Ring a Ding Ding
8. Because of You - Jack Jones
9. The Lady is a Tramp - Ella Fitzgerald
10. In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning
11. Facination - Jane Morgan
12. Strangers in the Night
13. After the Lovin' - Engelbert Humperdinck
14. Call me Irresponsible
15. My Kind of Town

Next week, Pat Cooper hosts "Playing Favorites".

That's a great one, Melanie! I wish he had included it, but it was a great show.

J Jones -- Eunice's Favorite

Eunice's very favorite singer is Jack Jones, so this edition of "Playing Favorites" is a special one. When we saw him at the Mohegan Sun a few years ago, our table was in the front row. From the opening number until his "Impossible Dream" finale, my Wife was "in a world of her own!" Can you imagine such a thing!

Well as promised I attempted to sign up to Sirius, however...on the site you get a 30 day free trial (good) but have to enter your credit card details which will then activate at $12.95 a month afterwards. So far so good. BUT it would only accept a US postal address ie state, zip code etc.
So I have failed to sign up, any advice? If this is now locked out to non US residents then its a problem.

I had the same problem Nick when I tried to sign up a while back. I would love to subscribe so if you find a way, let me know! I did wonder if I should ring the contact number on the website.

Im loathe to call an international number to sign up, Sirius is in massive financial trouble, which could perhaps be lessened if it was easier to sign up internationally....

Thank you. I know people here who are a lot further away have subscriptions, but these go back some time so I hope they are still taking new ones. Would seem odd not to.

I did do a trial way back, when it finished I was told to ring a number they gave me to subscribe, I didn't for the same reasons as Nick mentioned. I would join in a second if it were possible.

Re: Your Sirius Subscriptions

Methinks you need General Washington & Monsieur de Lafayette to fight this 'battle' for you! "Jersey Lou" will right the wrongs. Rule Brittania!

Pasquale Caputo

A wonderful, wonderful comedian -- a man who has played as many benefits as anyone! Name a cause, and Pat's there. We saw him in Revere a few times, and the tears wouldn't stop! He also appeared many times on Jerry Williams' Talk Show, and was an "ideal" guest --intelligent, articulate, loads of anecdotes, opinions on everything, never afraid to express them, and... rip-roaring funny!
