excellent choice for playing favorites host
his tribute album to Frank Sinatra is great which is called Dear, Mr Sinatra- which I assume we all knew anyways. Its right up there with Tony Bennett's perfectly frank
Just had an idea for Nancy's show- called dedicated to Frank- play selections from bennetts, pizarelli's, lou rawls, steve tyrell's micheal boltons, keely smiths, johnny mann singers, basie, petersons, the boston pops etc's tribute albums along with the best of sinatra
dont forgot frank jrs tribute album and some of nancy's songs that reflect of her dad

just my two cents worth

though a week behind, I wanted to comment on the Judy collins show of playing favorites. This too was a great show, with great comments and great songs

I knew that "send in the clowns" was going to be on the list.
I had always thought judy's version other than the plays was the first but she said it was recorded before her version. who came first ?
that reminds bob, did you ever complete your list of songs sinatra introduced?

nice show - i was also thinking she might play "both sides now"

nice show all around

The problem with 'Playing Favorites'

After 27 different shows, the "formula" for Playing Favorites is now apparent: The guest host is asked to select ten or so songs and record appropriate introductions and/or followups for those. Then, Sirius inserts additional random material in between the host's selections to fill out the hour (usually different songs for each of the three shows during the week). The problem is that the Sirius selections often do not match those of the guest DJ.

For example, this week, musical theater star Joel Grey chose mostly Broadway and film songs, including some rarely heard material such as the Rosemary Clooney duet "Cherry Pies Ought To Be You" and the Betty Garrett duet "You're Awful" from On The Town. But the Sirius programmer inserted pop songs like "We'll Be Together Again" and "Granada," which didn't really match the mood and style set down by Joel Grey.

What's worse is when they sometimes insert songs in the wrong places. In today's broadcast, Joel Grey introduced "I'll Be Seeing You," but they played "Granada" instead. A similar but different mistake was made earlier in the week. A little more attention to detail by Sirius would make these shows much more enjoyable.
