Would you like to program Siriusly Sinatra?

We will have more than one program director but I thought it might be fun to get some ideas for my shows from the members of the SFF. All you have to know is that they will air once a week and each will be three-hours long.

Any volunteers?

Wow once a week for 3 hours long that is so fantastic Nancy.

Could they play a lot of his stuff from the the 70's and 80's that doesn't get heard as much as his 50's and 60's stuff and it is fantastic stuff.

Maybe each week a new decade?

We can play anything we want, Mel. For example: we could play an FS song followed by a cover version by a young singer of the same song. We will also feature people like Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Perry Como and many more of Dad's peers.

There will be times when we feature a concept album and others when we'll play the singles, the old radio shows, the interviews and segments from the vault.

Nancy...when you say program, does that mean we have to have all the music ourselves or do we get a list to choose from? I'm sure there are others here who could do a great job but I'd be willing to try and help out if you need me.

You're going to have one great three hour show, Nancy! - seems to me that Boston Bob would be perfect for ideas about song themes, concepts and interesting discography facts etc.

George...I was thinking the same thing along with Ron, Rick, yourself, John (Jayeff) and a few more that I can't think of at the moment.

I think this is a wonderful opportunity for every fan to tell Nancy what you'd personally like to hear. I don't think it necessarily has to be a Sinatra or Great American Songbook expert. Everyone has different likes and dislikes, let her know what you would do if you had 3 hours to fill and your audience is comprised of casual listeners, long-time fans, experts and people just beginning to appreciate the music.

Good point,Susan

I'll think more clearly when it is not four in the morning. And I'll ask my brother the family expert.

Awesome opportunity: So many considerations for each 3 hour session... do you base it on: themes, chronological time scales, FS's influences, covers as Nancy suggests, the legacy... oh so many choices!

what would interest me most would be your own personal stories about whatever you're featuring

for instance, if you did a show with johnny mercer music, to talk about how your father felt about johnny mercer -- things he told you -- and to talk about if you ever met him, etc.

or if you did a show about f.a.s. in las vegas, what was it like to be there in the middle of all that from your perspective -- how it felt to you when a particular performance took place

i'd love to hear what it was like for you when you filmed "movin' with nancy" -- and about appearances on other tv specials, etc.

you could also build entire episodes around the american legend book...the wealth of material there

i can't wait to hear your show nancy -- what an awesome opportunity for we listeners!

Sounds like

a great idea. Bob does so well with this if he will take it on, we all can perhaps help a little. Tell us more about the format.

It seems like Bob is elected.

I have a great appreciation for his thread "50 Years Ago Today, Frank Recorded...________" .
It contains great historical references and, as we all know, some of the world's greatest hits. I can envision a short narration before each song is played which would give the listening audience a background about each one that they probably never heard before.
This type of subject matter could last for many years to come.

A to Z

Nancy,

It's been done before by Sid (I think), but with 3 hours, your insights on the tunes and the complete vault content, I think a "SINATRA from A-to-Z" program would be a delightful program mixing in tunes from Frank's entire career. But, it needs help from your end with the aforementioned personal insights on a particular tune or recording that you may have along the way...plus maybe just a "different" version of one or two of the songs than we are used to hearing.

I volunteer to help you with this one!

This is exciting!! I love to hear/read about the recording sessions, and the song selection process for particular albums. I would love to hear from you Nancy interacting with some of the musicians that played on various sessions, as well as from Mr. Granata on some type of regular basis. Looking forward to this!

Funny thing, I said I will never pay for radio, sorry but it just aint going to happen. Well so much for never, I guess I can file that statement with the "I'll never pay for water" and I will never pay for T.V." . I placed my order for Sirius radio because of one reason and one reason only, Frank Sinatra.
That being said I like the idea of having some of the musicians that Frank recorded these songs with giving their insight.
We all have the recordings, I can hear Frank anytime I desire but what I can't hear is Nancy giving us her insight along with the other people who were there telling their stories. I'm so excited about this new program!

One thing I'm sure fans would enjoy is the interview you did of your father for HOUR MAGAZINE. It was a treat to hear Mr. Sinatra talk about some things that only you could ask.

Adding some of the banter between your dad, Dean, and Sammy would be welcomed, I'm sure.

Amanda and A.J. might want to lend their voices to give an insiders look of the greatest entertainer ever.

And throwing some of your songs in there, Nancy, would be a personal treat for me. I know you recorded several songs your dad also had recorded.
