Mixing the album at Sonora in Los Angeles. These three pictures were taken by my daughter Amanda. She did the pictures and artwork for the "Nancy Sinatra" CD as well.

The compilation album that was never released. This was the first idea for the cover. It was shot at the same time as the Nancy and Lee cover.

And this is the cover we chose. It was taken on our press tour of Europe in 1966.

It's such a shame. I can't imagine people not wanting the Nancy and Lee trilogy in one set. And Lee wanted it so much. I feel bad for him that it never happened. We spoke of it again the last time we were together.

Of course now we would add the songs from Nancy and Lee 3 plus "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off"

There are so many more pictures but this is breaking my heart so I think I'll take a break from the thread. I'll post more if I have the energy some other time. I Hope you enjoyed this little retrospective.

Hold Lee close.

Nancy,
I wonder if it's "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling"?

For some reason I haven't been able to get the song "Ladybird" out of my head. It's one of my favorites from the Nancy and Lee album.

Great photos. Thanks. I loved the comment in the liner notes from the album- "Is Billy really strange"? "Yes he is but he's the best arranger in the world so let him be anything he wants."

Oklahoma crude meets Hollywood bubblegum

It was one of the entertainment world's more inspired decisions. Get the colorful cowboy with the gravelly voice together with the Bubblegum Princess and form the duo of the decade. Is somebody crazy, here? The odds of them making a successful pairing were slim and none, and look what happened! They lit up the entire popular music scene.

Boots may have originally been written for a man, but Nancy jumped on it like a duck on a June bug and made it hers. Nobody later remembered the original, and she and Barton found themselves riding the rocket to stardom. The chart hits, the duets, all this music!

It's a tribute to their mutual respect that, forty years later, they're still close. Sonny and Cher? Nope. The Captain and Tenille? History. (Okay, they're married... that doesn't count!) Ani diFranco and Utah Phillips? Who?

Nancy & Lee 3 is four decades removed from “Boots,” and, while it didn’t go gold, any fan who considers him or herself an aficionado of pop music knows there’s gold in the tracks. The magic that we see in Nancy’s photos from years ago is the same magic that we hear in “After the Lovin’.” A tribute to Barton isn’t complete without Nancy, just as a tribute to Nancy isn’t complete without Barton Lee.
