I always loved her. I didn't like disco. But that doesn't matter - she was bigger and better and more than that. I knew she was showing her age in photographs in her biography "Ordinary Girl" - they might still have it at Barnes & Noble. Now I know why.
She will rest in peace knowing that she is loved.

I don't know if I can imagine me being age 13-16 without listening to Donna Summer. She was amazing.

What a loss. She was a part of the soundtrack of my growing up. I saw her in Nashville about fifteen years ago. She sounded even better live. She would shop at Crystal's Fine Gifts. I saw her when I was in the store. I had several friends that worked there at the time. I never bothered any of the famous folks who were buying gifts. I broke that rule with Donna. I told her how much I enjoyed her music. She was so kind and chatted about her music. A lovely lady. Rest in peace.

I'm speculating, but - she managed to keep this development a secret. Such dignity - she really closed the book with class. As to books, maybe the onset of this moved her to write her book. Great book.

Very sad indeed, the " Queen Of Disco" many a catchy dance tune , one of my most favourite duets by any artist has to be Donna with Barbra Streisand " No More Tears ( Enough Is Enough)" fabulous.
Much too young.

Her music was so much a part of the top 40 soundtrack to my teens and early 20's. I, too, would have to choose Enough is Enough as my favorite of her songs although Heaven Knows is another I never tired of hearing.
May she Rest in Peace.

Favorites?
Well, I guess everybody loved "Loved to love you baby", and "Try me I know we can make it I know if we try". I also liked "Spring Affair"and "on Sunset". "I Feel Love" was kind of fun too. "Heaven Knows" is one song I didn't care for because it was just a whole lot of yelling and noisy horns.

Rest in peace Donna Summer. I loved her music and it will live on. It was part of my era, and remember dancing to it with Pete. Sleep warm.

A very gifted lady, and her partnership with Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte was an amazing combination of talents.
I too enjoyed Love to Love You, Baby - especially the 16-minute-plus version. Terrific string and horn arrangements by Michael Thatcher. Don't know if it falls into the category of urban myth, but I recall an interview several years ago where Donna Summer said that the anguished moaning and groaning on the record was easy to do because she was suffering from toothache at the time! (I think there were quite a few radio stations who banned the single version at the time.) Another favourite is Heaven Knows where she duets with Joe Esposito.

First Whitney Houston and now Donna Summer, I do NOT hope that Diana Ross is the next one in line.
