Steve Landesberg
Landesberg was best known for playing the character of Detective Arthur Dieterich on the sitcom, "Barney Miller", which aired from 1975 to 1982. Detective Dieterich was known for having a wide array of knowledge on the most obscure subjects, yet was also somewhat patronizing from time to time. In later years, Mr. Landesberg appeared on such programs as "Law & Order" and "Two Guys, A Girl & A Pizza Place", as well as appearing as a doctor in the film, "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". I can honestly say that I have heard Mr. Landesberg speak in a stand-up routine, and he was very good. Very good. Rest In Peace, Steve Landesberg. You will be missed.

My buddy lives in the same block where they filmed Barney Miller, although he was as daffy as Barney Fife.

I loved his "Indian" routine among his many hilarious bits - I think he was 74 so he had a few more years than the erroneous 65 years cited in some obits - but now 74 doesn't seem all that old either. Rest In Peace and thanks for the smiles, Steve.
