This is an interesting question with several important derivations in the response.

As you know, exposing corruption and fraud during the McCarthy era took a back seat to ratting out the communists. The expose' in this Frank Loesser pastiche was to bring the fun back to normal criminal activity like illegal gaming rather than communist politics, real or imagined.

The other thing that was brought to light in this movie/show was the undeniable fact that the NYC sewer system was way to large and clean. As you know, the sewers have since been shrunk and the stench eminating from them has made illegal gaming impossible in the New York underground. Now, many New Yorkers enjoy gambling in other sewers like Atlantic City.

Well, Mitzi Gaynor's real name was Ethel Erubiel Schmindrik.
Of course, she couldn't go on with a name like that, so the big Hollywood types chose to change her name to Mitzi.
But she was still a Schmindrik.

They tried everything.......Mitzi Mouse, Mitzi Mantle, Mitzi Rooney...no good.

Unfortunately, at this time, poor Ethel started to feel the stress of not having a stage name and having to become famous as a Schmindrik, and she started to put on weight.

Upon noticing how rapidly her waistline was expanding, a Studio boss was heard to utter, "Wow! Mitzi's a gainer, isn't she?"

And a name was born.

A standing ovation for the last response. I am now fully enlightened.

So, you want to know what really happened while waiting for the clouds to roll by.

Many people don't know this, but during the forties, most mothers used a diaper service. The trucks used to both haul away the dirty and bring in the clean were known as "clouds" because they had puffy diapers pictured on the sides of the trucks which looked like clouds.

So, what really happened 'till the clouds rolled by was that mothers would have to deal with the awful stench of soiled diapers. This was especially true if the delivery service was late or the driver got sick. Not a pretty picture but another example of how far we've come in 60 years.

I think, if I remember correctly, Ronald Sarbo said that to me after a particular evening at Patsy's.

If memory serves, it had to do with Entertainment, not company.

See, the wrong answer is the right answer, so if you give the right answer then that's the wrong answer, so while i could have supplied you with Mitzi's actual real name, it would have been wrong here, because it was right, and the wrong answer, which I supplied, was then the right one.

So that means Sarbo never said that, so that means the lame answer wasn't really lame at all.

If a King is a king, why then would he go Forth? Why not first?
