I only know one of them! #2 is Johnny Weismuller! However I'm sure I know the names of most or all of them - just not on-sight.

Bobby, I also thought #7 was Olivier, but I think Marty says it's not him.

1) Tom Conway. Bobbysoxer, he was George Sanders' brother and played The Falcon in a bunch of movies. Great to see you, Bobby.
2) Lex Barker, one of Lana Turner's several husbands and a former Tarzan. 3) I don't know. Maybe a lousy photo of Ann Francis? 4) Carole Lombard, great comedic actress, wife of William Powell and Clark Gable. She and Gable were man and wife when she died in a plane crash during a war bond drive. 5) I don't know. Possibly Nigel Bruce. 6) Lionel Barrymore in drag. 7) Looks a little like a young Walter Huston or maybe a shot of Laurence Olivier. Not a representative shot of either of them. When I think of Huston, I think of him in his Oscar winning role in Treasure of Sierra Madre, Doc Holliday in The Outlaw, Cagney's father in Yankee Doodle Dandy, Trampas in The Virginian or the title character in Dodsworth. Not the outfit here, if it's him. 8) If it's Clara Bow, it's not a representative photo to my eyes. If it's not her, I have no idea. Maybe a French or Italian actress. 9) Lionel Barrymore in drag. 10) The great Paul Muni (Scarface, Louis Pasteur, Emile Zola, Juarez, etc). 11) Kay Francis 12) Alice Faye. Very good singer. Who was her famous husband? 13) Terence Stamp (Billy Budd, The Collector, Superman, Superman II) 14) Hmm. Not even a familiar face. Nothing registers. 15. Brian Donlevy (The Great McGinty, Destry Rides Again, Never So Few, Kiss of Death, Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Two Years Before the Mast, etc). He was also a poet and was married to an ex-wife of Bela Lugosi. Oscar nominated for his role in Beau Geste. Last edited by Edwin; 11-28-2008 at 04:02 PM. Reason: Add trivia & movie titles about some of them. |

Who the hell is Lex Barker? I thought it was Weismuller! It also looks like a muscular Harry Houdini.

Quote:
23 different actors played Tarzan from silent movies up until now although it was Weismuller from the early 30's until Barker took over in about 1950 or '51. He starred in five Tarzan movies. The first movie Tarzan was Elmo Liincoln. Tarzan was a helluva franchise. |

Not even one? As Bing said to Frank in "High Society," "You must be one of the newer fellows."
