Bootlegger Arrested
THE RIAA HAS TOLD US THAT ANOTHER BOOTLEGGER WAS ARRESTED THIS MORNING. We will fill you in on the details later.
Also, we have been monitoring eBay over the last week and have had over 100 unauthorized products removed as of today.
Dad would be so happy about this news and so are we.

I think it's a real good news for all true Frank Sinatra's fans all over the world and also his family for the respect of his art and his work.

Thank you for posting this information. I think that it is so important that people are stopped from doing this. Your commitment to your father's legacy is wonderful (this word seems so inadequate, sorry). We're with you all the way!

I agree with all the comments above.
I do not understand why it is necessary for some to cheat. If a product is not authorized it should not be on the market. As Nancy pointed out earlier...some of it undermined the effort by the family to release some new material of much higher quality. That is such a shame. So these bootleggers ruin it for all of us!
So now they get a little bit of payback. And more importantly others are sent a message. Maybe now this issue will be taken more seriously, like Susan said "Bravo!"

Good News and Good Work, Nancy!
Once again, this sends out a clear message for bootleggers to beware.
Hooray for the RIAA!

Nancy, I'll wait for more news on this and I for one am glad that these pirates are having their items removed from the eBay site. So many honest folks, not knowing about these items, have been bamboozled by these people and it's time that it stopped. I only hope this discourages more sneaky people from selling these items. I still maintain that all the recordings and items of interest to the Sinatra collector WILL eventually get released through time and through the PROPER channels.
Way to go!

Congratulations! I would like to know, however, what kinds of merchandise I should look out for. I bought a picture of Frank and Tony Curtis on ebay recently and I wonder if I shouldn't have bought it. Is there any way to find out if the purchases I make are "Sinatra family approved"? I would hate to take away from the hard work your family has done to ensure that Frank's memory lives on with dignity, class, and authenticity. Any ideas? Would also like you to know you have done an incredible job of maintaining your father's image. Be proud that you have done what so few children of legends do...you have taken care of his fans and yours with grace and style. Please keep up the hard work. We really appreciate it! Hope all is well with your family and I wish you all the best! A grateful admirer, Beth

Here in New York, at this very moment, dozens of street corner vendors are selling thousands of illegal copies of LEGITIMATELY RELEASED Sinatra CDs which they've copied on CD burners and made Xeroxed covers for, at $5 apiece. Throughout Asia, the situation is many times worse. These pirates are hurting the family, the record companies, and legit music retailers far worse than a bootlegger who sells a few hundred copies of unreleased material over the Internet or at specialty shops. Why the RIAA and local law enforcement (not to mention the Sinatras!) look the other way with the pirates and continue to go after the bootleggers is beyond me.
I suppose the fact that a bootlegger has been busted is good news. But the REAL criminals are still out there.

Pardon me, but the material released on most 'bootlegs' is stuff that the powers at hand will never release or take too long to release anyway.
The 'bootlegger' has provided us the best concerts, air checks, radio and tv recordings and rare V discs before Sony came out with the gorgeous package.
It's completely disingenuous of the posters on this forum to write things like 'Bravo' and ''Marvelous' when they see the guys who bring the stuff we as fans want and value, arrested.
None of you own anything that's currently unreleased?
It's about the music, Nancy. We want the music and the flow is extremely slow.
'Close to You' just came back on the shelves this year. Were we as fans supposed to forget it existed and wait for this senselessness to subside? Of course it was available privately, the demand was there. Give us the music, Nancy- that's all we want.
