I heard this program this morning and it was wonderful. It's so nice to hear the respect all these great artists have for Frank and this album. It's bittersweet to hear Frankie's voice too. .

Playing Favorites with Herb Alpert and Lani Hall
    Week of September 10, 2018

Herb Alpert is, simply put, a music legend. He got his start writing hits like Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World" before founding A & M Records with Jerry Moss in the early '60s. By the time they sold it a quarter-century later, it was one of the most successful record labels in the world. As a producer, trumpeter and occasional singer, he had a phenomenal string of hit singles and albums with the Tijuana Brass in the 1960s -- in 1966 Alpert and the TJB outsold the Beatles in the U.S. -- and continued recording regularly into the '90s. Lani Hall is a star in her own right, having sung on smashes for Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 like "Mais Que Nada," "The Fool On The Hill" and "Scarborough Fair." She married Herb Alpert in 1974 and embarked on a successful, long-running solo career around the same time. This week we will enjoy an encore of "Playing Favorites" co-hosted by Herb and Lani.

    Herb & Lani's Selections:
Only The Lonely - Frank Sinatra
Fascinating Rhythm - Herb Alpert & Lani Hall
How High The Moon? - Ella Fitzgerald
Goodbye - Frank Sinatra Sings For Only The Lonely
    That's All - Bobby Darin
Happy Talk - Nancy Wilson & Cannonball Adderley
Night And Day - Frank Sinatra
That Old Black Magic - Louis Prima & Keely Smith
That Old Black Magic - Herb Alpert & Lani Hall

Was listening to Sirius 71 while on the road last week (I think it was a "Playing Favorites" program), and the announcer kept referring to himself as Harry Belafonte. But it didn't sound like him. And the monologue didn't follow, either. Finally, I realized he was saying "Gary Belafonte." So... Harry has a son who's into music. But the monologue still didn't follow. Finally, he mentioned a tour date or something, and I then realized it was Gary Dell'Abate!

    Must get my ears checked....

Harry Belafonte = Gary Dell'Abate... same syllables, same vowels, same accents. They sound very similar on a car radio, doncha think?
