    Did the Roger Williams instrumental (with male chorus) precede Matt Monro’s hit? The lyrics were penned by Monro’s manager Don Black for the movie of the same title. Monro is heard singing over the Oscar-winning John Barry theme in the end credits of the film.

    I guess I couldn’t swear it was a “hit”, Stanley, but I know Elmer Bernstein released an orchestral version because my grandma had a compilation album that included the lovely melody.
