Thread: These Boots Are Made for Walkin'

  1. Nancy regretted the song, saying in 1971, "The image created by 'Boots' isn't the real me. 'Boots' was hard and I'm as soft as they come."
Boy, oh boy, I don't remember saying anything like that.

The author of the "Songfacts" article apparently derived that quote from Fred Bronson's The Billboard Book Of Number 1 Hits. Bronson credits the quote to the production of The Many Moods Of Perry Como TV special in 1970 (not 1971).

That surprised me, too, that you would say that!

That definitely sounds like a “quote” invented by a publicist!

This song is one I definitely remember as a little kid in the 60s, along with Something Stupid. I've often wished I was a teenager back then. I love the styles, the movies, and fashions of the 1960s. And the Boots video is always a kick to watch.
